CMs Committee on Digital Payments presents interim report to the Prime Minister
- The committee was set up on November 30, 2016
- Was headed/convened under Shri Chandrababu Naidu (CM of AP)
- Has submitted the interim report to the union government. The government is yet to take any call on the recommendations
Some of the recommendations
- BCTT should be re-introduced (to be applicable on cash transaction of value Rs 50000 and above) so as to curb the cash usage
- In case of big transactions, the cash component part of it should be capped
- A subsidy of up to Rs.1000 to be provided for smart phones for non-income tax assesses or small merchants
- All payment banks and BCs to be made interoperable through AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System). In case of Rural and Urban Cooperative Banks, they should be brought on board to shift to Digital Transactions mode immediately
- Provide infrastructure for 1,54,000 post offices by way of interoperable Aadhaar enabled Micro-ATMs
- Contactless payments to be promoted for travelling in buses & suburban trains in metro cities
- UPI App should contain a common interoperable UPI QR Code. Banks to encourage the common QR Code at merchant location
“ARUN” Mobile Application Launched
- ARUN- Atal Rooftop Solar User Navigator was launched by the MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy) for promoting solar rooftop systems
- The app will work for Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power Systems that would make the operations easier and efficient
- The app will basically provide information on basic things to be known about solar rooftop systems and guidelines for the installation
Extending Outreach of Passport Services through Network of Post Offices
- The government to streamline, liberalize and ease the process of the Passport Services has made various changes towards the end of last year.
- In order to reach the people who are far away from the from the passport offices
- The government opens up the PSKs (Passport Seva Kendras) and the government has announced that four more PSKs will be set up at Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Udaipur in Rajasthan, Siliguri in West Bengal and Sholapur in Maharashtra in the coming months
- The government also organizes the Passport Seva Camps at various locations (in 2016, there were 80 such camps organized)
- MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) and DOP (Department of Posts) in order to increase have now agreed to utilize the Head Post Offices (HPO) in the various States as Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) for delivering passport related services to the citizens of our country. The pilot projects for this joint venture will be inaugurated today at the HPO at Mysuru in Karnataka and at Dahod in Gujarat
The Applicants (who have applied online through the passport portal) can now schedule an appointment and then visit the designated POPSK to complete the formalities (same as in those at the PSK necessary prior to the issue of the passport)
