Committee Constituted to Prepare Draft Ganga Act Submits its
Report Uma Bharti Calls it a Historic Day

- The committee was appointed in July 2016
The committee
- The committee has recognized demand in agriculture sector, industrial sector as enormous challenges being faced to maintain the wholesomeness (Nirmalta and Aviralta) of Ganga
- It has also stated that on the other hand there is pressure on account of sustaining the religious faith, historical and social belief associated with the river
- The draft Act addresses the critical issues pertaining to National River Gaga on its Cleanliness (Nirmalta) and uninterrupted e-flow (Aviralta) and provides corresponding recommendations
- The committee has adopted certain stricter provision to increase accountability and responsibility for use of resources made available by National River Ganga
- The option and provision made in suggestive bills available with National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) were also considered and discussed by the committee
Government constitutes an Inter- Disciplinary Committee chaired
by Special Secretary (Economic Affairs) to examine the existing
framework with regard to Virtual Currencies
- The crypto/virtual/digital currency circulation has been of some concern to the government
The committee will
- Take stock of the present status of Virtual Currencies both in India and globally
- Examine the existing global regulatory and legal structures governing Virtual Currencies
- Suggest measures for dealing with such Virtual Currencies including issues relating to consumer protection, money laundering, etc
- Examine any other matter related to Virtual Currencies which may be relevant
- The inter-disciplinary committee will submit the report in three months
