1. Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Dr. Ambedkar
Context:
Dr. B R Ambedkar passed away on December 6, 1956, and this day is
observed as ‘Mahaparinirvan Diwas’ in his honour.
Details:
- The Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly Bhimrao Ambedkar died on this day in his sleep.
- The term ‘parinirvan’ has a deep meaning in Buddhist traditions and refers to someone who has attained nirvana in his lifetime and after death.
- Millions of people and followers of Dr. Ambedkar assemble at the Chaitya Bhoomi (Dadar Chowpatty Beach in Mumbai), on this day.
- Ambedkar was a champion of rights for the downtrodden and his contribution to Indian society and polity is immeasurable.

2. AYUSH Export Promotion Council
Context:
Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of AYUSH decides to set up an AYUSH Export Promotion Council.
Details:
- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of AYUSH have decided to work together to set up an Export Promotion Council to boost AYUSH exports.
- It was also decided in a joint review of AYUSH trade and Industry that the entire AYUSH sector will work together to achieve price and quality competitiveness to boost AYUSH exports.
- The proposed AYUSH Export Promotion Council (AEPC) will be housed at the AYUSH Ministry.
- It was decided to expedite the process of standardisation of HS code for AYUSH.
About HS Code
- HS Stands for Harmonized System and it is a six-digit identification code.
- It was developed by the WCO (World Customs Organization).
- Customs officers use HS Code to clear every commodity that enters or crosses any international border.
