 New Project to Control Pollution in River Sal

1. The Centre sanctioned a new project to control pollution in River Sal at Navelim town in Goa.

2. The project was sanctioned by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change under the National River Conservation Plan and would cost of Rs. 61.74 cr.

3. Both the Centre and State will share the cost on 60:40 basis.

National River Conservation Plan

1. National River Conservation Plan (NRCP) is a centrally funded scheme launched in 1995 aimed at preventing the pollution of rivers.

2. Programs for river conservation are being implemented under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP) and NGRBA (National Ganga River Basin Authority)

It is the book authored by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

1. The book was launched at a function in Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra. Union External Affairs Minister, Smt Sushma Swaraj was the Chief Guest for the function. 

2. The book is being published by Penguin Randon House India.

3. In the book, the PM has penned down almost 25 mantras for students as well as their parents and teachers on how to tackle exams without stress and anxiety.

4. The book highlights issues of importance to students such as coping with exam related stress, keeping calm during exams as well as what to do after the exams get over.

Advantage Assam

1. It is Assam’s first global investor’s summit.

2. It aims to showcase its manufacturing opportunities and geostrategic advantages to foreign and domestic investors.

Demetrios Galanos

1. He was the earliest recorded Greek Indologist.

2. Born in Athens, Ottoman Empire (present-day Greece) in 1760.

3. He spent 47 years in India, where he translated many Hindu sacred texts into Greek and compiled a Sankrit-English-Greek dictionary of over 9000 words. He died on 3 May 1833 in Varanasi.

4. The International Conference on ‘Demetrios Galanos and His Legacy’ was inaugurated at IGNCA in New Delhi.
