National Conference “Agriculture 2022- Doubling Farmers’ Income”
- The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) is organizing a National Conference under the title of “Agriculture 2022 – Doubling Farmers’ Income” at National Agriculture Science Complex (NASC), Pusa, New Delhi.
- It is a two days conference scheduled on 19th and 20th February, 2018. The Conference is being organized on the advice of the Hon’ble Prime Minister with a view to identify various critical issues relating to agriculture and farmers’ welfare and finding appropriate solutions.
- The main aim of the conference is to build a consensus around appropriate recommendations that will help in shaping and sharpening the vision of the Government on Doubling Farmers’ Income by 2022 into actionable points.

Shri Ram Vilas Paswan kicks off Swachhta Pakhwada in his Ministry
- Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution swept an area outside Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi today.
- Shri Paswan also administered the Swachhta pledge to officials of the Department of Food & Public Distribution on the first day of the Department’s Swachhta Pakhwada scheduled from 16th to 28th February 2018.
Swachhta Pakhwada
- Swachhata Pakhwada started in April 2016 with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata by engaging GOI Ministries/Departments in their jurisdictions.
- The Ministries observing Swachhata Pakhwada are monitored closely using online monitoring system of Swachhata Samiksha where action plans, images, videos related to Swachhata activities are uploaded and shared.
- After observing Swachhata Pakhwada, Ministries/ Departments announce their achievements through a press conference and other communication tools.
- For the Pakhwada fortnight, observing ministries are considered as Swachhata Ministries and are expected to bring qualitative Swachhata improvements in their jurisdictions.

National Automotive Policy
After series of one to one stakeholder consultation, Department has finalized the draft Automotive Policy which proposes to:
- Adopt a long-term roadmap for emission standards beyond BSVI and harmonize the same with global standards by 2028.
- Rollout CAFE norms till 2025 and beyond and setup incentives/ penalties.
- Adopt a composite criterion based on length and CO2 emissions to classify vehicles for differential taxation purposes.
- Harmonize automotive standards over the next 5 years in line with WP-29.
- Improve the skill development and training eco-system, increase accountability of ASDC and implement a Labor Market Information System.
- Harmonize AIS and BIS standards on safety critical parts over next 3 years.
- Fast track adoption of Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program.

MoU Signed between BSI and NHM
- Botanical Survey of India (BSI) and Natural History Museum (NHM), UK signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of genetic/taxonomic studies, research and training, conservation in India, including species and habitat conservation assessments.
- The MoU will pave the way for BSI staff to work in Natural History Museum, London and vice-versa.
