President of India Inaugurates the Udyam Sangam-2018
- The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the Udyam Sangam-2018, being organised by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) today (June 27, 2018) to celebrate the 2nd United Nations Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day.
- He also launched the Solar Charkha and MSME Sampark Portal.Â
- Udyam Sangam-2018 is an important effort in developing effective eco-systems for MSME sector. He noted that the Sangam will provide representatives of finance, training and educational institutions, industry, media, state governments and NGOs an opportunity to engage in extensive discussions to strengthen the eco-systems in this sector.
Solar Charkha: It would be a technology revolution in cotton Industry where charkas would be operated using solar energy. The scheme aims at linking five crore women across the country to the initiative.

MoU between India and Singapore on Cooperation in the field of Planning
Objective:
- To facilitate government agencies in the Centre and States, including Municipal Bodies, to readily tap into the expertise of Singapore agencies in the areas of urban development and management and other areas, and thus help in urban rejuvenation, mission.
- Capacity building programme in the field of planning, focusing on areas of urban planning, water and waste water management, solid waste management, Intelligent Transport System and public financing (Public Private Partnerships) would be undertaken.
Beneficiaries:
The officials from Central Government, State Government and Urban Local Bodies would directly benefit by enhancing their knowledge base which would ultimately get manifested in the improvement in the urban civic amenities.
Cabinet approves MoU between India and Germany on Cooperation in the field of Civil Aviation
- The two countries desired to strengthen and further develop the established relation through signing a Joint Declaration of Intent for promoting and facilitating exchange of knowledge and experience, cooperation in the field of Civil Aviation.

Cabinet approves: Shifting of more experienced doctors belonging to Central Government and Central government entities to teaching / clinical /Public Health Programme implementation activities
Impact: This will result in capacity building and leadership development of more Central Government doctors besides availability of more experienced doctors for medical education, clinical / patient care services and for implementation of national health programmes.
Beneficiaries: The decision will make available more experienced doctors for patient / clinical care, medical teaching activities and implementation of National Health Programmes etc., which is likely to benefit society at large.
Establishment of additional 6.5MMT Strategic Petroleum Reserves at Chandikhol in Odisha and at Padur, Karnataka
- The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved establishment of additional 6.5 Million Metric Tonne (MMT) Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) facilities at two locations, i.e. Chandikhol in Odisha and Padur in Karnataka, including construction of dedicated SPMs (Single Point Mooring) for the two SPRs.
- The SPR facilities at Chandikhol and Padur will be underground rock caverns and will have capacities of 4 MMT and 2.5 MMT respectively. Government had announced setting up of two additional SPRs during the budget announcement for 2017-18.
India and Bahrain: Cooperation in the field of Healthcare
- The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Bahrain on cooperation in the field of Healthcare.
The MoU covers the following areas of cooperation:-
- Exchange of information including publications and research outcomes;
- Exchanging visits by governmental officials, academic staff, scholars, teachers, experts and students;
- Participating in workshops and training courses;
- Encouraging health and medical research activities at both the private-sector and the academic level; and
- Any other forms of cooperation as may be mutually decided upon.
Oxytocin formulations ban from 1st July 2018
- The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has restricted the manufacture of Oxytocin formulations for domestic use to public sector only from 1st July 2018.
- It has also banned the import of Oxytocin and its formulations.
- From 1st July 2018, no private manufacturer will be allowed to manufacture the drug for domestic use. Only Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceuticals Ltd (KAPL), a public sector company, would be manufacturing this drug for domestic use from that date.
- The Oxytocin formulations meant for domestic consumption will be supplied by the manufacturer, i.e. KAPL, to the registered hospitals and clinics in public and private sector directly.
- Oxytocin in any form or name will not be allowed to be sold through retail Chemist.
- All the registered hospitals and clinics in public and private sector in the country are advised to contact KAPL and place their orders with the company as the drug will not be available with retail chemists or any other manufacturer.
