Context:
Delimitation Commission holds meeting.
Details:
- The Delimitation Commission or Boundary Commission of India is a commission established by the Government of India under the provisions of the Delimitation Commission Act.
- Delimitation literally means the act or process of fixing limits or boundaries of territorial constituencies in a country to represent changes in population.
- The Delimitation Commission is appointed by the President of India and works in collaboration with the Election Commission of India.

Why is Delimitation done?
- To give equal representation to equal segments of a population.
- To incorporate the principle, ‘One Vote One Value’.
- To have a fair division of geographical areas so that no political party has an undue advantage over others in an election.
Context:
Union Agriculture Minister reviews Locust Control Operations at a high-level meeting.
Details:
- The Centre is in close touch with the affected States and an Advisory has been issued.
- 15 sprayers will start arriving from Britain in the next 15 days.
- Besides, 45 more sprayers will be procured in a month or one-and-a-half months.
- Drones will be used to spray pesticides on tall trees and inaccessible places for effective control of locusts, while plans are afoot to deploy helicopters for aerial spray.
- 11 Regional Control Rooms have been established and special contingents have been deployed along with additional manpower to check the spread of locusts.
- Currently, 21 micronair and 26 Ulvamast (47 spray equipment) in Locust Control Offices (LCOs) are being used for locust control and 200 officials are deployed.
- Beyond scheduled desert areas, temporary control camps have also been set up at Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Dausa in Rajasthan; Sheopur, Neemuch, Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh and Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh for locust control.
- Locust has been controlled in an area of about 50,468 hectares in 334 locations in Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
- Locust control operations have been undertaken every day in the morning hours with the help of control spray vehicles, tractor mounted sprayers and fire brigade vehicles under the supervision of concerned district authorities and officials of the State Agriculture Department.

3. National Commission for Women
Context:
Senior member of the National Commission for Women meets Union Minister.

4. Financial Stability and Development Council
Context:
Finance Minister chairs 22nd meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC).
Details:
- The meeting reviewed the current global and domestic macro-economic situation, financial stability and vulnerabilities issues, major issues likely to be faced by banks and other financial institutions as also regulatory and policy responses, Liquidity/Solvency of NBFCs/HFCs/MFIs and other related issues.
- Besides, market volatility, domestic resource mobilisation and capital flows issues were also discussed by the Council.

5. Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB)
Context:
Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme to be taken forward using innovative ways in view of the prevailing conditions of COVID-19.
Details:
- The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to:
- Move towards digital mediums for the carrying on the activities under EBSB by each participating Ministry/Department.
- Organise webinars on Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat themes for their wide dissemination.
- Have a common repository for the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat digital resources that can be used by every Ministry. This repository may be hosted on a common portal.
- iA revised communication plan needs to be made and Doordarshan’s 30 minute weekly programme on EBSB should be destination based with inputs from all ministries.

6. Instant PAN
Context:
FM launches facility of Instant PAN through Aadhaar based e-KYC.
Details:
- This facility is now available for those PAN applicants who possess a valid Aadhaar number and have a mobile number registered with Aadhaar.
- The allotment process is paperless and an electronic PAN (e-PAN) is issued to the applicants free of cost.
- The process of applying for instant PAN is very simple.
- The instant PAN applicant is required to access the e-filing website of the Income Tax Department to provide her/his valid Aadhaar number and then submit the OTP received on her/his Aadhaar registered mobile number.
- On successful completion of this process, a 15-digit acknowledgment number is generated.
- If required, the applicant can check the status of the request anytime by providing her/his valid Aadhaar number and on successful allotment, can download the e-PAN.
- The e-PAN is also sent to the applicant on her/his email id, if it is registered with Aadhaar.
