COHSEM: Council of Higher Secondary Education - Manipur

The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) was set up in the year 1992 under the provisions of the Manipur Higher Secondary Act, 1992 (also known as the Manipur Act 4 of 1992). Before the council came into being, the +2 courses were conducted by the BSEM (Board of Secondary Education, Manipur). The course was also known as the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate course in the Higher Secondary Schools and as Pre-University course in the Manipur University in the College.

Exams Conducted by COHSEM (Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur)

The Council conducted the Higher Secondary Examination, 1993 as its first public examination in the state. The Council is in charge of organising the Class 12 Exams. Higher Secondary Examination is conducted in the month of February-March, with the improvement exams taking place within June. The results of Higher Secondary exams are also released normally in the 3rd week of May.

COHSEM Class 12 Exam Statistics

• Total Number of Students: The average number of students appearing for the Manipur HS Board 12th Exams has roughly been around 30 thousand. The numbers showed an increasing trend from the year 2018 when 28,020 students appeared for their Manipur Board Class 12 Exams. The numbers increased in 2020 and 2021, with 29,144 and 31,136 appearing for the years respectively. Here is a comparison of the number of students appearing for the COHSEM HS Exams over the last few years.

• Overall Passing Percent: The performance of students in Manipur HS Board has been around 70%. In 2019 the overall pass percentage was 73.83%. The percentage increased in 2020 with 86% of the students passing. However, in 2021, 99.8% of the students appearing for the Manipur 12th Board exams had successfully qualified.
