About the Maharashtra HSC Board
The Maharashtra HSC Board is responsible for conducting the Higher Secondary Examinations for the students, who have successfully cleared their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Exam.
The students enrolled in the Maharashtra HSC Board will have to write the MSBSHSE HSC or MSBSHSE Class 12. The HSC Maharashtra conducts the exam for streams such as Arts, Science, Commerce, and Minimum Competency Vocational Course (MCVC). Nearly 1.5 million students from all across Maharashtra appear for the exams every year.
This year, the Maharashtra HSC Board Exams will be conducted in two shifts in various examination centres across the state. The morning shift starts from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm, and the second shift starts at 3:00 pm and continues till 6:30 pm. Contrary to the previous years, this year, an extra 30 minutes have been added to the Exam Duration. This extra time is awarded taking into consideration the reduced writing speed and accuracy of students, who are accustomed to online classes.

- Total Number of Students: The number of students appearing for the Maharashtra HSC exam has increased a lot over the past few years. Though in 2015, the number of students dropped by a significant number, 2020 saw an exponential increase in the number of enrollments. - Overall Pass Percent: The pass percent of Maharashtra State HSC exam has always been high over the last few years. Though the percent reduced slightly in 2016, it again increased significantly in 2020. The pass percentage for 2020 was at 90.66%, while pass percentage for 2021 stands at 99.63%.
In the year 2020 a total number of 15,84,264 students registered for the HSC board exams from the various streams offered by the board. Here is a comparison of the passing percentage, for your reference.

Maharashtra HSC Board Exam 2021 Result Highlights
For the exams conducted in 2021, the Maharashtra HSC Board 2021 Results were published on August 3, 2021. This year the pass percentage saw an increase of 8.97% from the previous year. A total of 13,19,754 students appeared for the 12th exams this year, with an overall pass percentage of 99.63%. This year too, the girls outshone the boys, with 99.73% girls passing and 99.54% boys passed the exam. The pass percentage for Science was 99.45%, 99.91% for Commerce and 99.83% for Arts.
The HSC board exams were cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students were awarded marks based on an alternative criteria of 40:30:30 rule. According to this rule, 40% marks were taken from the first semester exams, unit tests or practical exams from Class 12, 30% marks were taken from the Class 11 marks, and the remaining 30% from the three subjects they scored the best marks in from Class 10.
