CBSE Board exams towards the end of class 12th play a very pivotal role in deciding the future path of one’s career. Most of the universities or colleges have strict cut-off lists for admissions based on 12th board exam results. Here are some tips to help you outshine in board exams.

Tips For Studying CBSE Class 12th Physics

  • It is important to know the syllabus of the subject before starting the preparation for CBSE board examination. The syllabus for physics as specified by CBSE can be obtained here.
  • Know the syllabus before choosing the reference books. CBSE board strictly follows the syllabus of NCERT textbooks, and thus the topics covered in each chapter can be deciphered. The scholars can also opt for one more reference book but be careful as going through a lot of reading material ends up creating doubts.
  • The amount of marks a chapter is allotted in the examination should not be a factor when studying them for the first time. Memorization is not necessary but proper comprehension is!
  • When practicing problems on a particular topic always try to mention units (S.I) along with the magnitudes as you may lose marks in the examination if they are not mentioned. You may forget to write the units due to lack of practice which would ultimately result in loss of marks. Units are important!
  • Once a chapter is finished, make sure that you attempt all the problems mentioned in NCERT. In case of difficulty in solving certain problems, you may refer to books that provide NCERT solutions.
  • The previous year’s question papers and sample papers deserve attention when you are done with all the chapters in the books. A comprehensive study of the papers of the previous year will make the mark’s allocation clear and also the forms the questions will take in each section of the paper. Things don’t really change much in the CBSE question paper year to year.
  • While solving CBSE sample papers one should try different strategies like start answering from the first section in the first go and then attempt the questions in the third section or vice versa. This would help in optimizing time judiciously based on real-time experiences. Fix the strategy that suits you and then practice according to that.
  • Solving sample papers also helps you to train yourself in answering the paper within a time frame.
  • While writing in the examination you should be precise in your answers and also try to write in points as much as possible so that it is easy for the examiner to evaluate.
  • One of the most important points to keep in mind is that first attempt the entire paper leaving the questions you are unable to answer straight away. Because attempting such questions might eat up your time and you might not be able to attempt the entire paper. Once you attempt the complete paper then come back to the unanswered questions.
