The UPMSP or the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (माध्यमिक शिक्षा परिषद, उत्तर प्रदेश) is an educational board is the state of Uttar Pradesh. The UP board is also called as Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh (BHSIEUP) and is responsible for conducting Class 10 (Secondary) and Class 12 (Intermediate) exams every year.

Latest Notification:

  • The UP Board has cancelled the Class 12 English exam in 24 districts after the question paper was leaked in Balia. The exam, which was scheduled to be held from 2pm to 5.15 pm on March 30th 2022 has been cancelled in Agra, Mainpuri, Mathura, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Bagpat, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Unnao, Sitapur, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Jalaun, Chitrakoot, Ambedkarnagar, Pratapgarh, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Ballia, Varanasi, Kanpur Dehat, Etah and Shamli. However, the students in the other 51 districts of the state have been allowed to take the exams as scheduled. The Director of Secondary Education, Vinay Kumar Pandey has said that the fresh date for the Intermediate English exam in these 24 districts will be announced soon.
  • Amidst all the clamour among the students to cancel all the impending exams, the UP government is expected to arrive at a final decision on whether to conduct the UPMSP Class 10th and 12th board exams 2021  along with the university exams, which were to take place in the coming weeks. An official also claims that a decision about the exam dates will be taken after 20 May 2021.

About UPMSP

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is an UP government administered educational authority which is responsible for conducting Standard 10 exams (or secondary school level exams) and Standard 12 exams (or inter-college level exam) for all the schools affiliated to it. In UP board is referred to as the Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh (BHSIEUP) and is the largest education board in Asia in terms of the total number of students.

Class 12 and Class 10 pariksha are conducted every year in different test centres all throughout the state. Almost 35 lakh students appear for the UP High School (10th) exams and almost 30 lakh students appear for the Uttar Pradesh 12th exams. Apart from conducting Class 10 and 12 exams, the UPMSP is also responsible for granting recognition to schools and prescribing courses and textbooks for the affiliated schools.

For the UPMSP Class 10 exams, almost 35 lakh students appear every year, which is one of the highest in India. The pass percentage of the standard 10 exams have remained steady, while the total students appearing are increasing slowly. It can be seen that the total students appearing for Class 12 exams are gradually increasing. The total no. of students who appeared for Class 12 exams for the year 2020 was 26,04,093.

UP Board Class 10 Pass Percentage

 

From the chart, it can be seen that the overall pass percentage for Class 10 was the best in 2016. Overall, a good number of students pass the Class 10 exams and the pass percentage of both boys and girls had remained steady over the years.

Every year, nearly 30 lakh students appear for the Class 12 Pariksha, which is conducted by the UPMSP. A statistical overview of the total number of students and the pass percentage details of boys and girls are given below.

From the chart, it is clear that the number of total students was highest in 2018 while it saw a steep decline in 2019. After that, in 2020, the number decreased a little more to 25,86,247. Overall, approximately 25 to 29 lakh students appear for the UPMSP Class 12 exams, which is one of the highest in the country.

The overall pass percentage was the highest in 2018 and the pass percentage of 2020 seem to have picked up after a slight dip in 2019. It can also be said from the pass percentage of both boys and girls over the years that girls have outperformed boys.

UPMSP Syllabus and Books

Since 2018, the Secondary Education Council of the Uttar Pradesh board has decided to use NCERT books to go in line with the CBSE board. The books for all the classes and subjects were changed and the curriculum has been updated.

UP Board Exam Pattern

In the Class 10 pariksha of Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh (BHSIEUP), there are 5 compulsory subjects, which include Science, Maths, English, Hindi, and Social Science. In the intermediate Class 12 exam, students are offered courses according to their choice.

In both the Class 10th and Class 12th exam of UP board, the question pattern includes MCQ type questions, very short answer questions, short answer questions and long answer questions. UP Board Exam Dates

The UPMSP Madhyamik Pariksha or the Class 10 exam and the UPMSP Class 12 Inter exams are both conducted in the month of February. Generally, the Class 10 exams are conducted over a period of two weeks while the Class 12 exams are conducted over a period of 5 weeks.

UP Board Results

A month after the commencement of Class 10 and 12 exams, the UPMSP declares the results online. The results of both Class 10 and 12 are generally declared by the end of April. However, this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the results were delayed.
